Lynda Roughley

Lynda Roughley

Press Officer & Campaign Lead

I joined the branch at the beginning of 2020 and being a journalist I was happy to take on the role of Press Officer.

I became involved with the branch because I felt driven to do my bit to help raise funds to find a cure for MND and assist those living with this awful disease. I have been honoured to also take on the role as campaign lead which involves co-ordinating and promoting the Association’s campaigns.

Fundraising/Web & Social Media

I became involved with the MND Wirral Group around two and half years ago. After my mum being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease I was passionate to help other people living with MND and their families.

I try to help in various different ways, including assisting during fundraising days, attending campaigning conferences and assisting with the running of the website and social media pages.

I thoroughly enjoy volunteering and am honoured to work with such a great team.

Ali Lewis

Ali Lewis

Association Visitor

My name is Ali Lewis and I am an Association Visitor. I joined the MNDA in March 2021 to help people and their loved ones affected by MND.

We offer practical and emotional support and endeavour to reduce the burden upon the person themselves and their close contacts. Small things can hopefully make large differences to people’s experiences at times of great need.

Charles Stuart

Resource Manager

Hi, I am Charles Stuart and my Sister-In-Law died from MND in 2016.
In 2018, I retired and redirected my energy to charitable works including the Wirral Group of the MNDA.

I do mainly secretarial work and am the Quartermaster of the storage unit that Kangaroo Storage very generously let us have free of charge.

Recruitment & Volunteer Support

My name is Julienne and I am responsible for recruitment and support of volunteers.

I am relatively new to working with MNDA Wirral and am impressed with their determination to support individuals that have been diagnosed with Motor Neuron and their families. It is a really busy group with lots of activities for volunteers to get involved with.

Technical Support

Having had a father affected by MND, I understand the crucial need for support for both patients and their caregivers.

Recognising that my individual effort alone is insufficient, I am here alongside other remarkable individuals to contribute that extra bit, and I am honoured to be a volunteer for this remarkable group that works towards supporting MND patients and their caregivers in the Wirral.

Fundraising & Association Visitor

I joined the Wirral group in 2022, firstly helping with fundraising events, then undertaking training to become an Association Visitor. I also give secretarial support to the group.

Having lost my husband to MND in 2021, I understand the need for social and emotional support, not just for the person living with MND, but to the immediate
family.

Kate Williams

Kate Williams

Association Visitor

When my former boss and friend died from MND several years ago, I decided that I wanted to train as an Association Visitor with the Motor Neurone Disease Association to help people living with MND and their families, by offering practical and emotional support.

It is a privilege to now be supporting several families on the Wirral who are learning to deal with the impact of living with MND and I sincerely hope to make a difference during such a challenging time.

Keith Powell

Volunteer

When my best mate was diagnosed with MND in 2024 we were introduced to the MNDA Wirral Group. They have been a fantastic support over the last two years and I soon realised that if local families impacted by this cruel disease were to get as much help and support as possible then we all needed to do our bit! Whilst my first priority currently is as a carer, I attend volunteer meetings and help out at fund raising events whenever possible.

Fundraising Volunteer/Resources

I joined MNDA Wirral Group in early 2020 to support my wife and her sister who had, at that time, recently been diagnosed with MND. The Group is very active in its support for all people in the area living with MND, together with their families and friends.

It is a source of great satisfaction to me to provide support to the Group in any way I can, whether by helping to organise, and participate in, local fund-raising events and bucket collections at local stores, plus providing logistical support to the Group as and when required.

Gaynor Mellor

Gaynor Mellor

Fundraising Volunteer/Deputy Finance Administrator

I joined the Wirral Group in February 2020 when my sister was diagnosed with MND. It didn’t take long before I started fundraising for the Group due to the amazing support my sister received.

I organise, and participate in, bucket collections at local supermarkets and support various fundraising events which are always fun to do. I also help when needed with accounts administration.

I do know from experience how important it is for people living with MND and their families to receive such vital support, therefore it’s always a pleasure to help fundraise for the Wirral Group.
